soaked but happy

Some people are afraid of the rain but we all have to remember it’s just water.

Anthony and I totally planned to meet up with the DC Road Runners this morning — but a fun Friday night left us a bit too groggy to bust out 10 miles at 7 a.m. So we slept in and woke up to sloshy rain. But we still ran because we’re crazy badass.

Look at the zebras behind me! See, they’re not scared of a little drizzle!

Both of our headaches had faded by mile 3… and the sleet/rain eventually turned into snow! It was a wet 5 miles but worth it. I feel like a million bucks now. Sort of.

So, last night, I biked allllll the way to Petworth for happy hour. Petworth isn’t really that far away from where Anthony and I both live, but it’s one of those parts of town that is considered more remote for a variety of reasons. If you say you’re going to Petworth, people usually make you repeat it. “You mean, PET-worth??!!!”

I would have dreaded the 5-mile ride from my office, but I was in top form because my brother-in-law gave me the best Christmas gift ever. It’s a scarf for your FACE.

So now when I bike, my nose and ears don’t freeze off. I also look like a criminal, but that probably worked in my favor when peddling through Petworth anyway.

So the big news is that we discovered the best happy hour in all of the land, located in P-worth. It’s at a spot called DC Reynolds, where you can buy any drink and get the next drink free from 5 until 9 p.m. Who knew such wonder was held behind the doors of such an unassuming shop front?

Last night was also boys’ night. I joined Kevin, Victor, and Anthony for brewskies. We had some riveting and manly discussions!

The BOGO offer makes it difficult to leave, so we stuck around longer than any of us had planned. The discussions got livelier…

And we got hungrier…

Until we rolled out of the bar and scurried home, all warm and fuzzy. And THAT is the perfect recipe for all Fridays, from now on. Have a great weekend!
