Today I headed out for a 0.2 mile run! Yes, 0.2.

About 0.01 steps into it, I knew it was a bad idea. My left hip is not working right now, and “running” is more like limping at present. I’m not sure what this means for my marathon in TWO WEEKS, but all I know for today is that I shouldn’t run on it.

So, I headed inside and did some reading while elliptical-ing. How are ellipticals so magically painless? Whoever invented them was genius. Does reading runner’s world count toward training? As for Cosmo, I have no excuses other than I am a young woman who needs to know 10 Fall Trends to Follow, 52 Tricks That Will Make Him Crazy for You, How to Get Stellar Abs This Week, and What He’s Really Thinking. I had no idea I had so many things I needed to improve in my life, but Cosmo has reminded me that I need to shape up my womanly life ASAP.

Since I sadly don’t have beautiful pictures of DC to share with you today (which is a shame, because it’s gorgeous outside!), here’s some pretty food shots. Though I may have to take a break from running every now and then, I will never take a break from eating. Guaranteed content, three times daily… coming at you.

After eating oatmeal, yogurt, and French toast every day for breakfast for the past six years I decided to change it up this week with a frittata. Can anyone explain the difference between a frittata, a quiche, egg casserole, and a strata? They all seem extremely similar and delicious.

I made this recipe from Paleo Lifestyle. I am making Anthony proud with this no-carb creation… that is best served with a piece of buttery toast, in my opinion. I would give the qui-tatta (that’s a new word for quiche + frittata) 4 stars. It’s good, but oddly sweet for an egg dish in my opinion. Oh, I also added cheese to the recipe. Obvi.But the kitchen madness hasn’t stopped there. I went all-out this week and whipped up a second new recipe: Israeli Couscous with Apples, Cranberries, and Herbs. I modified the recipe a bit to make it more of a main meal — I added chicken and chickpeas. And feta. Also, who has Israeli couscous? I just bought the normal kind.The dish tastes sort of like slightly healthier Thanksgiving stuffing. Thanks Giada! She always manages to come up with super-tasty meals (and also always wear a super-low-cut shirt, don’t you think? A bit inappropriate!).

The comfort foods are helping, but I am starting to stress about this hip issue. I have no idea what type of injury it might be or how long it will take to heal. This article tells me it could either be an IT band issue, a stress fracture, Piriformis syndrome — this article says it could be a hip flexor strain, a Femoral Acetabular Impingement, or bursitis. I guess I could see a doctor but I’m going to try and wait it out to see if it just goes away. Please please go away!

Happiest part of my day so far is knowing that Olympic runner Kara Goucher also watches The Bachelor. If I just keep watching, I will run like her! I had no idea being an Olympian was so easy!Happy Tuesday!
