I’m no food photographer, so you have to trust me when I say this un-photogenic meal was really delicious.Last night I cooked up a storm for Anthony. Items included butternut squash soup (a mix of fresh squash and veggies combined with this), roasted chicken (like the recipe here), and rosemary potatoes and veggies. It was very seasonal, no? Plus it rained all day, which makes any soup taste better.
The highlight of the night was this, though:Over a year ago, Anthony and I discovered this awesome wine in Australia — Inkwell. We’ve raved about it ever since, but have never been able to find it. I’d completely forgotten, but after months of searching, detective Anthony finally found 3 bottles in a cellar in California? And of course ordered them all. Yes, this wine pairs quite nicely with sour cream, as displayed above.
Wait, who am I kidding? The highlight of the night was ANTHONY! He’s home! Hoorah! I took a picture of him last night but it is really bad with my apartment lighting, so here’s a better one of him from a while back, in natural light, holding a fried banana on a stick.Well there’s no real segue from that, so let’s move on to something running-related. I got an email from Active.com today with tips for my upcoming race day. One article was about keeping your stomach happy on the big run, and avoiding two very common runner’s woes: side stitches and diarrhea. I thought the tips are very simple, and the reasons behind them pretty clearly explained. Let me highlight some main points for you:
- Side stitches: can be caused by over-hydrating or over-eating, inadequate stretching, or, simply, lack of fitness ability (aka, you didn’t train hard enough)
- Diarrhea: may go away over time as your body adjust to activity levels; may be reduced by exercising before your race or drinking hot beverages; may be reduced by avoiding high-fiber foods, sugar-free foods, and other specific “trigger” foods you should test to figure out more
Now, that was pretty shocking, huh?!
Low-quality photos and diarrhea discussion doesn’t make for the best blog post, does it? Luckily, Anthony came through again and gave me some beautiful flowers that I can e-share with everyone to brighten things up.That’s more like it.
